As indicated previously, a lot has been going on at the Johnson house in the past few months. Our apologies for the delay, but in the end, I think you’ll understand. I’ll try to keep the details brief to keep from making the post too long.
It started with the decision to sell our house back at the beginning of the year.
Since I’m working from home now and we foresee wanting to grow the family soon, it made sense to investigate the option of more square footage. After months of a roller coaster ride, we ended up successfully closing on June 25th. Beth found a great house for us to rent in Winter Park and with a week of overlap, we painted, packed and moved just in time for the 4th of July. I say “just in time” as if we planned on celebrating somehow. Our celebration involved unpacking a few boxes, shoving some food down our gullets and falling asleep wherever we hit the floor. Exhausting.
Keller also turned 2 during the hullabaloo (June 10th). We had a small party with some friends and my mom was also able to come down from Indiana. It’s been so loney toons that I literally just relalized I hadn’t downloaded the pictures from my camera yet. Here are a few from the party.

Some days it’s hard to believe he’s only two. Others, we can’t fathom how recent the bottle feedings and Baby Bjorn feel. At his 2 year checkup, his doctor measured his height 3 times and actually said, “Well, if this is right, then we have to get into all kinds of bloodwork for hormone tests and stuff like that, so let’s use the scale that takes an inch and a half off.” People talk to him like he’s 4, but then realize once he opens his mouth that he’s much younger. Today as I was changing his diaper, he was kicking those long legs so hard I’m sure the look on my face resembled that of looking down a loaded shotgun. He doesn’t fit in a pack-and-play anymore. His head pushes on one end and his feet on the other. He’s in the largest size of diapers and doesn’t seem to be taking any interest in potty training yet. He’s quite a thing to behold.
So, this is where it gets interesting. On top of all this excitement, two weeks before we moved, Beth found out she was pregnant. It was relatively surprising, and very unique timing. While her pregnancy with Keller was seemingly easy, this time around has been incredibly difficult. She’s basically been as physically down as if she had an 8 week flu (losing 14 lbs since getting pregnant) and ended up in the hospital the week of the move. She wasn’t able to pack, unpack or keep up with Keller at more than about 15 % of her capacity. And for anybody that knows her knows how incredibly frustrating it’s been for her.
But, all things considered, life is sort of coming back to normality. A few unpacked boxes and un-hung pictures still remain. It’s nice to have a little more space now. The past couple days have been a little better for Beth as she nears her second trimester (her due date is Feb. 19th).
More updates to come soon I’m sure!
